PHOTOTHERAPY A LIFE SAVING FORM OF TREATMENT
PRESENTED BY DR. DAN FERNANDEZ

TREATMENT SESSION
PATIENT BLOOD EXTRACTION PROCESS

In our procedure the patient is seated comfortably in a reclining chair and a nurse first canalizes the vein and allows the extraction process to complete. Once extraction is completed, the blood bag is connected to the irradiator. Extraction takes approximately 10 minutes.

IRRADIATION PROCESS
Demonstration of the complete PCI-1 set up process

  • The collection bag is on the left IV holder.

  • As noted, it is connected by sterile tubing which runs via the pump and into the UV-irradiation chamber.

  • From here blood flows to the secondary bag which is on the right IV holder.

  • The 70micron filter is connected and primed for reinfusion which takes 5 minutes.

REINFUSION PROCESS

  • Patient sits comfortably while a nurse clears vein canalization and connects the blood administration kit for reinfusion.

  • Patients usually read or watch television while they wait to complete the reinfusion process which takes approximately 7 to 10 minutes.
